Give the gardai a good Irish cop as their commissioner
Last Sunday night I rang the bell of my Mayo neighbour who had been bravely flying the flag in Dublin all season.
Like many more I had adopted Mayo and been feeling down about them all day. My decision to call was spontaneous and I wasn't sure what I wanted to say.
But when he opened the door and looked at me with a stoic face, I suddenly found myself saying: "I'm sorry for your trouble."
