Brian Cowen is ready to go down doing his duty
Some weeks a political column can be stiff as a straitjacket. So this week I am going to set things down as they struck me: obliquely, and sometimes not obviously political at all. In short, I want my readers to reflect on how little "proper" politics have to do with real politics.
For example, if Lisbon is lost it won't be the fault of the 'Yes' campaign which has been superb so far. It will be the fault of obtuse politicians who did not appease public anger about their abnormal expenses by accepting the criticism and taking a cold cut.
Still mulling over the Taoiseach with Tubridy. Ryan Tubridy had publicly reflected so much on Ryan Tubridy presenting the Late Late Show that on the night we felt as if we had seen it already. In sum, it was a postmodern Late Late Show.
