This day last week the Sunday Independent quoted extensively from a September 2011 document called An tSli (The Way) described as "the blueprint to save Fianna Fail."

An tSli was a hard-hitting and honest appraisal of the problems Fianna Fail faced in the wake of its greatest ever electoral rout. It was skillfully prepared and was informed by the experiences and analysis of those who had fought and survived the 2011 election.

It was candid and, at times, brutal. It did not spare anyone's blushes. It was not an outsider's diplomatic appraisal of our situation - it was our own harsh assessment of where we had failed and what we needed to do if the decline and collapse of the party was not to continue.
