I see my role in land of milk and honey
Declan Lynch believes he has found the password to the magic door to the world of 'entitlement'
THE CRC scandal has been a disaster for charities in general. As we learned that about half of the CEOs of charities are getting paid more than 100 grand a year, we felt that all the time we had been been labouring under a basic misapprehension -- that in helping those less fortunate than ourselves, we had also been helping those more fortunate.
And as we listened to the CRC and other 'chiefs' droning on about a "situation in which there is entitlement", and about their remuneration being linked to equivalent grades in the public sector, we felt that we had been here already. We knew these guys.
We felt sad too, because we knew that we could never be like them. That we could never even imagine ourselves thinking that there was a situation in which there is entitlement, let alone saying it out loud.
