David Robbins: The cost of a ticket to the big game? One lost girlfriend...

The day of an Ireland rugby match has always followed strict guidelines governing opposition analysis, intake of solids and liquids and pre-kick-off routines.

And that's just for me. God knows what the players have to go through.

At the height of my career -- and I write this gazing fondly at a minuscule silver tankard won as part of a victorious Bective 3rd 'A's team in 1992 -- I was as rigorous as any professional in my preparations on match day.
