Free, impartial journalism faces threats on all fronts
Outdated laws and the rise of mass media present new challenges to serious reporting, says Colum Kenny
There are stories that you are not being told, and they affect your life. The media cannot or will not get to the bottom of some of them. And cannot or will not tell others.
We should not assume that we are always told by the media what we need to hear for our own good.
If Irish media had revealed more about the behaviour of banks in the past, then we might not be paying the price that the crisis is now costing many of us.
