Colette Browne: Short-sighted austerity policies are robbing poor children of their futures

Ireland prides itself on vindicating the right to life of the unborn, but this concern with life dissipates at the moment of birth.

The latest 'Growing Up in Ireland' report has revealed that it is children born since 2008 who are among those paying the heaviest price for the banking collapse.

The study of 11,000 children and their parents lays bare the effects of the recession on children's development.
