One hundred years after the Rising, this land might be our land, but we still can't house our people properly on it.

This week's discussions on housing showed that what often passes for policy formulation quickly descends into pantomime.

Our leading think-tank, the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI), raised some valid points about homeowners whose children have left home, and it issued warnings on lending restrictions leading to long-distance commutes.
