The sleeping giant awakens

The general feeling is that we deserve it. After all we've been through. It got so bad at one point that we were fighting over bread. And on and on it went. We started to think it would never end. It felt as if things had changed for good somehow, and this was how it would be from now on. Never-ending winter.

So as we emerged blinking into the sun, we were full of pent- up energy, pent-up rage, a pent-up sense of injustice. And we were finally free and we deserved to be free, and it even hung around for the weekend, which it doesn't usually do.

They say Denis Naughten got off because of abortion. But maybe he got off because the sun came out. Who has the heart to follow through on anything right now? They could have looked for his head and plunged the so-called government into crisis. But, meh, whatever... let's find a beer garden. The sun came out and shone some light into the dark corners but it somehow washed all our sins away too.
