Only a surplus on cost of running country would mark end of crisis

MARATHON runners – so I've been told – hit something called 'the wall' about three-quarters through their 40k journey, or whatever incredible distance they do.

Just when the end is in sight, finishing starts to seem impossible.

The Irish fiscal correction has certainly been a marathon: four years to date and a nigh incredible €25bn adjustment.
