Brendan Keenan: We will come out of this depression, but not all will benefit from growth

AMID the encircling gloom, I thought I would cheer myself up with a Saturday dinner in one of Dublin's best -- and quite expensive -- restaurants. No go; booked up until the end of May.

It does seem a bit odd, but then the whole depression -- for such, technically, we must call it -- seems a bit odd.

Foreign journalists flying in to see an economy, 15pc of whose annual income has disappeared in a year, may be a little taken aback not to find obvious scenes of devastation.
