IT used to be the case that every Dail summer recess was accompanied by jokes from cartoonists and colour writers about buckets, spades and beaches.
In recent years, including this one, wellies and macs would be closer to the mark.
The mood music has changed as well, with fewer snide remarks about TDs' holidays. True, this Dail is not breaking up in late spring, as many of its predecessors did, but there may even be a certain sympathy for our beleaguered politicians?
