Being a nun was a sort of collective, but I could walk away

WHAT is a “collective”? Well, if you’re a slave in a house in London in 2013, it has completely different connotations to what we might think it is.

I suppose I was in a collective when I was a nun. I shared a living space with like-minded people. We prayed together, we ate together and I worked for the good of the community.
