AFTER a week when Sinn Fein seemed poised to pull in possibly 20 seats at the looming General Election, it appears there is a lot to be said for Bertie Ahern's feline management of its toxic influence during his much-maligned premiership between 1997 and 2007.
Ahern is one of the few leaders anywhere in the world who emerges with much in the way of credit from the WikiLieaks tsunami.
In retrospect, it appears that his handling of the PIRA/Sinn Fein's brazen decision to rob the Northern Bank in 2004 was a masterclass in diplomatic savoir-faire.
