Why FF should opt out of Dublin-West by-election
As he faces into the new political term, Fianna Fail leader Micheal Martin needs to start thinking in terms of grand gestures. What better one to start with than deciding not to contest the Dublin West by-election.
This would be a decision guaranteed to cause apoplexy among those already in a twist over the party not contesting the presidential election.
But it is those very people the leader needs to ignore now in his efforts to try to rebuild a party that may already be beyond resuscitation.
