At the time of writing, another 'status yellow' weather warning is being issued for Donegal, and as you read this article, Hurricane Harvey will be making landfall in the Gulf Coast of America.

Weather events that once occurred on a Biblical time-frame are now being seen every year.

The basic science behind climate change is no longer disputed. As our atmosphere warms it can carry more water and at the same time dry out the land. We are seeing that happening in Europe, where the incidence of extreme rainfall events has increased 31pc at the same time that drought conditions have spread in the Mediterranean.
