We need a pair of hands to lift us over the maelstrom
The next President needs to be a reassuring guide to lead the way through the detritus, writes Jody Corcoran
In the dog days of August, with everybody away, when we are left with nothing but the sound of the remorseless markets ticking, into the clearing there comes again Dana, Rosemary Scallon, a person, we are told, of "credibility, dignity and ethics which are beyond reproach".
How utterly depressing.
She may have, as the publisher of the Catholic Voice tells us with such enthusiasm, a "clean pair of hands", whatever that may mean. Who amongst us can claim to have a clean pair of hands? Certainly not the Catholic Church.
