Wallace must quit Dail now

His admission that he knowingly filed a false VAT return makes developer Mick Wallace's position as a TD untenable.

The idea that someone who so flagrantly broke the law can continue as a lawmaker is simply absurd.

Ever since he was first elected as a TD in February 2011, Mr Wallace has presented himself as somehow being the "new" face of politics. After his admission that his firm MJ Wallace had under-declared VAT on apartment sales over a two-year period, one can only conclude that Mr Wallace's "new" politics is little different from the "old" politics against which the Irish people thought they were voting in the February 2011 General Election.
