Vicky Notaro: Game may be non-contact but it's not for fainthearted
JUST how dangerous is tag rugby? Well, discounting damage to the ego, I haven't really seen enough of the ball to be fearful of ending up in A&E, and my attempts at grabbing tags aren't exactly fruitful. But it's the taking part that counts, right?
I play in a weekly mixed beginners' league with colleagues, and although it's meant to be all fun and games and bonding, there's a lot more aggression and smack talk than I expected.
I remember audibly squeaking with fear the first time I was tagged, a) because the guy was huge and coming at me full steam ahead; and b) I was sure my shorts would come off, with the force he grabbed me with.
