'Couples may have to give up their dream of owning a 3-bed semi' read the headline on the front page of yesterday's Irish Independent. The story beneath referred to Bord Pleanala's declaration that high density homes and duplex apartments are the way of the future for housing in urban areas, particularly Dublin.

"We should maximise the use of the infrastructure we've paid for" said chairman Dr Mary Kelly.

"We are in favour of approving the highest densities possible."
