Thomas Molloy: Coalition can't keep taking easy option and ignoring rest

THE middle-aged and the middle-class present an almost irresistible target to governments around the world, including the current Fine Gael-Labour Coalition.

The rich can pay for fancy accountants to sidestep taxes or simply move.

The poor and the young (often the same thing) are not worth taxing because the yields are so pitiful.
