SO what's getting everybody so excited about our national debt?
New figures say we borrowed more money than anywhere in Europe last year. According to the EU's statistics agency Eurostat, Ireland's deficit was 14.3pc of gross domestic product -- even worse than Greece which is presently Europe's whipping boy because its borrowing is seen as excessive.
That's rather a lot. I thought we were around 12pc?
