The Horses

*Haughey liked to project himself as the Squire of Abbeyville, frequently riding to hounds with the local hunt in the full regalia of the old ascendancy.

Shortly after moving into Abbeyville, He began acquiring racehorses to fill his new stables, and bought a stud farm in Co Meath in 1968. The following year, he introduced new tax-free benefits for stud farms. His horse, Flashing Steel, won the 1995 Irish Grand National.
