Taxman's vague price list does not reflect true valuations

THE property price guide published by the Revenue Commissioners is far short of what most of us would have expected.

Instead of being able to pinpoint addresses and see how much our tax bill for 2013 would amount to, the Revenue has instead provided a vague and ambiguous guide which does not reflect reality.

This is because terraced, detached, semi-detached, bungalows and apartments across entire towns are valued the same, despite obvious differences in location, local amenities and access to transport links which make a huge difference when it comes to the market value of a property.
