THE holy grail of getting the work-life balance right has taken up many column inches. Are we any closer to finding out how to achieve this? It seems not. In fact, if recent global corporate decisions are anything to go by, we have regressed.
Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer (yes, she is the one who went back to work after two weeks' maternity leave) has banned staff from working from home. But wasn't the ability to work from home the key to a happy work-life balance?
Haven't we spent decades working tirelessly to create technology that allows us to have 'offices' wherever we are? Isn't a laptop a portable office?
