Simon Harris: When we give to charity we expect that our money will be spent wisely

This has been a bad week for many essential service providers in the health sector and it needs to be sorted.

So many organisations up and down the country depend heavily on fundraising and the generosity of the public. Much good work is done with such funds and we all know countless examples of this in our communities.

Yet, sadly, we have a situation now whereby a number of organisations in receipt of millions of euro a year in taxpayers' money are topping up the salaries or pensions of their senior executives in complete defiance of directives from the HSE.
