Similar move in North had only temporary success
ANOTHER initiative to bring down hospital waiting lists -- and this time it will be different. That was the promise as the Special Delivery Unit was launched.
The reality is that much of it is aspirational for now and there was little clarity yesterday about what will make this plan work, not just in the short term.
The unit so far comprises one man, Dr Martin Connor, an NHS-trained management specialist and doctor of philosophy. He will be here for six months and has been given €250,000 by the Department of Health to pay his own fee and hire outside expertise.
