Shops buy into FG and Labour's manifestos

Retail Excellence Ireland has taken the unprecedented step of telling members how to vote, says Jerome Reilly

So what next for small business? The party manifestos of election favourites Fine Gael and Labour give hope, retailers say. And in the current climate any semblance of optimism is good enough, they say.

But their assessment of Fianna Fail and Green Party pre-election proposals is withering -- they feel their proposals are too little, too late.

"Fianna Fail and the Greens should have done all this two years ago, but they did nothing for small business," says Felim Meade of the family restaurant chain Graham O'Sullivan.
