Sexting not harmless fun for the cheated wife

The rise in flirting by phone and online is putting marriages under increasing strain, writes Alison O'Riordan

THE days of illicit lust-filled love letters may be long gone but online social networking and "sexting" are now putting relationships under pressure and causing increasing marital strife.

This perilous behaviour has evolved into a new form of online flirting that starts out guilt-free but soon loses its innocence.

Catholic marriage counselling service Accord said recently that internet use was to blame for problems in about 1,000 marriages as spouses look increasingly towards social networking sites and texting for companionship, and possibly more.
