Reducing age limit would be cruel blow

THE changing face of international adoption is reflected in the huge drop in children from abroad who are becoming part of loving Irish families.

Since 2004 the numbers of intercountry adoptions globally have fallen from 45,000 to just over 23,000 at the end of 2012.

Adopting abroad was always a series of difficult hurdles but now it is much tougher for Irish people who want to adopt overseas.
