Protest so tame, long arm of law doesn't need to feel own collar

UH-oh. As they say in Templemore, quis custodiet ipsos custodes? Who guards the gardai? What happens when the forces of law and order protest outside Leinster House?

Sometimes there are scuffles during such demonstrations. At other times there are props such as toilets (anti-septic tank charge brigade) and live sheep (farmers).

Would the protest by the boys in blue descend into lawlessness and disorder? Could they actually arrest themselves? As it turned out, the long arm of the law didn't need to feel its own collar. The two dozen or so gardai who strolled up and down outside the Kildare Street gates were models of restraint.
