Project adds up but it's still a work in progress

TODAY'S figures suggest that the decision to award 25 bonus points to those who take the higher-level Leaving Cert maths paper continues to encourage young people to move up a level.

This trend, combined with the surge in demand for third-level science courses, will be warmly welcomed by employers.

It sends out an important signal of Ireland's intention to improve mathematical and scientific performance.
