Political parties must purge old guard for us to prosper
WHEN I saw that Dragons' Den star Sean Gallagher was considering running for Fianna Fail in the General Election I felt like phoning him up and telling him he was out of his mind.
I know Sean, and I like him, and wondered at the folly of him trying to pursue a life in politics, especially when it involved throwing his hat in with a party that's likely to have its lights boxed out by the voters at the ballot box.
My initial advice would have been to run a million miles in the opposite direction and concentrate on his television career and giving motivation talks. Because there is no one in Ireland, I reckon, who does positivity like Sean. In fact, he'd wear you out with it.
