Political bedfellows are useful, but sometimes it's just a No-No situation

Referendums sometimes make for peculiar bedfellows, and the impending poll on October 4 is no exception.

Independent TD Finian McGrath, who is firmly in favour of retention of the Upper House, has found himself sharing a political blanket with a few unlikely characters in recent weeks.

Yesterday, he attended a No campaign photo-call on Merrion Square, and found himself cheek-by-jowl with the likes of Green Party leader Eamon Ryan, Labour's Joanna Tuffy and Fine Gael rebel senator Paul Bradford.
