Philip Ryan: Hospital crisis will make or break young pretender Simon Harris' leadership hopes

It was all going swimmingly for the Health Minister. Aged just 24, Simon Harris was the youngest TD elected to the Dáil in 2011 along with two other Fine Gael TDs in the Wicklow constituency.
Then he was chosen to propose Enda Kenny as Taoiseach after Fine Gael thrashed out a deal with the Labour Party to form a coalition government.
Young Harris kept his head down, worked hard and impressed Fine Gael top brass with his strong Dáil and media performances.
