Paul Melia: How much public will pay is the real issue
ALL of the public debate about spending on consultants in Irish Water is a sideshow to the real issue.
What people need to know is how much they are expected to pay when the charge is introduced in October. There's been suggested figures of anywhere between €250 and €350, but some have put the figure even higher. Whatever the case may be, the public has a right to know as soon as possible.
The Government has not covered itself in glory on this issue, despite charges being in the Programme for Government when it took office in 2011.
