Our gift to ourselves must be to not allow them grind us down

The news that the St Vincent de Paul organisation introduced counselling last year for some of its members hardly comes as a surprise. And this year the challenges for the charity have become much, much greater.
Recently, Brendan Demp-sey, Cork regional president told Pat Kenny (on Today with Pat Kenny) that his members are finding previously employed people at home with the lights out, the mortgage unpaid, with little food in the press and no heat, literally freezing in these harsh weather conditions.
