Openness and honesty is our way out

AIB chief Colm Doherty last week displayed a quality much-needed to emerge from our current crisis -- candour, writes Marc Coleman

IT was much criticised at the time, but Colm Doherty's appointment as AIB chief is turning out to be a success.

With many unexploded bombs still to be detonated, the same cannot be said for the State's management of the banking crisis. At least not yet.

Not everyone in Irish banking was responsible for the crisis that happened -- and as head of the bank's capital markets division, Doherty was removed from the mistakes that were made.
