On the tear with Rip: loaded, armed and ready for action
Damage control rather than surrender may be called for with a man like Rip Torn, says Declan Lynch
LAST week we were looking at alcohol in the lives of young men, and their confused strategies for giving it up. We were marvelling at how little has been learned in this area, as we discussed an RTE2 series in which lads "on the dry" could be sitting in the pub as usual, not drinking.
But old men drink, too, as we were reminded during the week by reports of an incident involving the great American actor Rip Torn.
Mr Torn, 78, was released on bail after his arrest for breaking into a bank in Connecticut, armed with a revolver.
