Now it's time for Enda to move from plan to action

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.Martin Luther King, Jr

Poor old Enda Kenny. Just when he could be forgiven for thinking he'd won the war, another tank trundles over the hill and fires at him. Using old but still lethal weaponry, crafted by himself in a moment of levity.

I'm sure our new Taoiseach could bite his tongue off for having made that quip about application for membership of Fine Gael to Michael Lowry at Phil Hogan's bash (if the reports are to be believed). The inevitable recycling of that crack should hammer home a lesson Kenny has been slow to learn: when the urge comes on you to make a joke, don't. The desire to be funny almost never works for him.
