Not a two-speed Europe, but two separate Europes
Seismic events are taking place, yet they are passing here almost in the blink of an eye, writes Jody Corcoran
THE most far-reaching decisions in 50 years are upon us: what kind of Europe do we want, and what is to be our involvement in that new Europe? We will get to chose, in a referendum, within six months, probably by March.
Yet there is no meaningful discussion here on the issue of the century. The opposite, in fact. We are kept in the dark.
There comes a point when you must wonder why. We are at that point. Just what is the position of the Government on the future Europe and the place of Ireland in that future?
