Noonan's outsider rattled corridors of power
Finance Minister Michael Noonan and senior officials in the Department of Finance were taken by surprise when Mr Moran announced his resignation yesterday.
They shouldn't have been.
Mr Moran never pretended that he was a career civil servant. With the EU/IMF bailout now in the rear view and the reform of the banking system – very much Moran's baby – finally starting to bear fruit, he's now set for a move back to the private sector.
