Nicola Anderson: They are suffocating middle-class families like mine

IT'S the small breathing space that's left after your own earnings have gone to pay the mortgage, the electricity and the heating bills.

It's the money that puts food on the table and helps out a little for the terrifying creche fees. The school books, the clothes, the shoes, the "voluntary" school contribution -- which is nothing of the sort.

The doctors' bills, the nourishing food since you can't just feed them chicken nuggets and frozen chips -- because then there will be more doctors' bills.
