Miriam Donohoe: New rules for graveyards? Now we really are losing the plot
I AM always joking at home that when I pass away I want to be cremated. They can do what they want with my ashes. And no fancy grave or headstone for me please.
Personally, I am not a fan of visiting graveyards and I attend my father and brother's graves once every few years at most. I prefer to remember them, and other loved ones who have departed this world, in my own way. I don't connect with the dead by standing in front of a grave looking at a stone with a name inscribed on it.
However, that is not to disregard the great tradition there is in Ireland for graveyards, a tradition which must be respected.
