Liz Kearney: I'm finally having my first baby at 35 – and praying we'll come into a fortune

SO, one in four couples in their 30s has put off having a baby because of their financial situation, according to our new Behaviour and Attitudes survey.

That's a sobering statistic, but not a surprising one for anyone in that age bracket.

I did it myself. Now I'm finally having my first baby in the new year, at the age of 35, which in fertility terms is a bit like the moment the lights start flickering before the permanent blackout.
