Livingstone is best of a bad lot but it's about time he ditched Irish act

Graham Clifford

Sure Ken Livingstone is as Irish as the day is long. If you believe everything you read about the veteran Labour candidate, who's hoping to become mayor of London again, you'd swear a passport with a harp on it sits in his bedside locker.

Ken is pictured with the Irish President, Ken backs a campaign to save the RTE bureau in London, Ken will reinstate support for the Irish community and St Patrick's day events if elected, Ken lives in Cricklewood, which is Ireland's 33rd county, Ken's favourite dinner is bacon and cabbage and he has a pint of Guinness for breakfast every morning -- okay, I made the last claim up but you get the message.

During his campaign, Mr Livingstone has used every tool in his armoury in order to win today's election.
