Lise Hand: Shady behaviour from Joan and Leo
Dublin West is a very competitive constituency, even in the sunglasses stakes. Both Joan Burton and Leo Varadkar were sporting their sunnies during the boss's visit to the National Sports Campus in Abbotstown, west Dublin during the week.
And their Secret Service shtick didn't go unnoticed by the Taoiseach. Enda started off his speech by remarking that Leo had taken off his sunglasses but Joan's were still in place. "I think they look well, don't they, with the shades. I saw them at the cabinet meeting yesterday and they were looking at each other," he joked. "Maybe they want the shades so they don't know that they're looking at each other," he added.
Goodness, what was Enda implying? That they were giving each other the glad-eye (highly unlikely) or the beady eye (much more like it)?
