Lise Hand: Mary forced to digest bitter news without a nice spoonful of sugar
THE opposition could like it or (sugar) lump it. They could roar, protest and implore all they liked but there would be no full bells-and-whistles Dail debate on the just-released rocket from the EU Court of Auditors, which found that the closure of the Mallow sugar factory had been needless.
There's no doubt about it but when you're out, you're out. And by golly it looks as if Ireland is on the outs with the EU's bigwigs right now.
Everyone's having a go, and now the Court of Auditors have joined the fun, having a merry kick at the Government while it's already punch-drunk against the ropes.
