Lise Hand: Feehily gives TDs a masterclass in taking blame to protect the bosses

JOSEPHINE Feehily was wearing the exasperated but patient expression of a woman left yet again to clear up the gigantic mess left behind by a bunch of well-meaning but essentially dim males.

The Revenue boss's presence had been requested by the Oireachtas Finance committee to try and clear up for once and for all the complete shambolics which all concerned appear to have made over the myriad methods by which the poor auld citizenry must fork over for the Local Property tax (LPT).

The sound of rending of patched garments and gnashing of neglected teeth rose over this benighted land just over a week ago when the latest directive from the Office of the High Executioner of Taxes suddenly appeared to demand that the portion of the property-owning population who opted for debit or credit card payments of the LPT must pony up before the festive season.
