AND there was the Taoiseach thinking that HE worked in the Power Tower. But it's too late to change the name of Government Buildings now -- for the Paddy Power betting emporium has snaffled the moniker already for its impressive headquarters in the south Dublin suburb of Clonskeagh.

Enda bustled out of the pouring rain and into the Power Tower yesterday to make his second big jobs announcement of the week. First over the winning line was the Kerry Group, with its unveiling of over 800 jobs. Behind it by a short neck is the Irish company which has become a bookmaking behemoth, with yet another 800 jobs.

For it turns out that backing the gee-gees is only the tip of the Paddy Power iceberg -- and anyone who innocently thinks that the placing and taking of wagers is a ramshackle, haphazard business is sorely mistaken.
